Which email services work?

Gmail, iCloud Mail, Yahoo Mail, AOL, Yandex, and any other email server that speaks IMAP. For those, Archive works out the server from your address; for anything else it shows its best guess, and you can change it.

Outlook, Hotmail, Live and MSN addresses need Microsoft’s own sign-in, because Microsoft no longer accepts passwords for this. That sign-in isn’t ready yet.

What is an app password, and where do I get one?

An app password is a separate password your email service makes for apps like Archive. Gmail, iCloud Mail, Yahoo Mail and AOL don’t let apps sign in with your real password. In Archive, “How do I get an app password?” opens the right page for your service:

• Gmail: Google Account, App passwords. Google shows this page only when 2-Step Verification is on.
• iCloud Mail: Apple’s guide to app-specific passwords.
• Yahoo Mail: Yahoo account security.
• AOL: AOL account security.

For other services, look for “app password” in your account’s security settings.

Does Archive delete my emails?

No. When you press and hold, Archive moves the emails you chose into your email service’s own trash. It never empties the trash and never deletes anything for good.

How do I get an email back?

Open the trash in your email service’s own app or website and move the email back to your inbox. Gmail and iCloud Mail keep the trash for 30 days, and Yahoo Mail for 7. Other services keep it until they empty it. After that, the email is gone for good.

Does Archive read my emails?

It reads who each email is from, who it went to, its date and its subject, and works out on your iPhone which emails can go. It fetches an email’s first lines only while that email is on screen, and the whole email only when you open it, to show it to you; it doesn’t save them. None of it goes to us.

Will it mark my emails as read?

No. Archive looks without changing anything, so every email stays read or unread, as it was.

What does it cost?

Looking costs nothing, ever. The first 100 emails you move from each mailbox are free. After that, pay once, and that mailbox is yours to clean for good. There is no subscription. The App Store shows the price before you pay.

Deleting Archive and installing it again doesn’t start the free 100 over.

I paid on another iPhone. How do I get it back?

The purchase belongs to the mailbox. Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, add the same mailbox, and when Archive asks you to pay, tap “I already paid”.

How do I remove a mailbox?

In your list of accounts, press and hold the mailbox, then hold “Hold to remove”. Archive forgets how to sign in to it and deletes what it saved from it on this iPhone. Nothing in your mailbox changes. The count of free emails stays, so removing a mailbox and adding it again doesn’t give you another 100.

An iPhone with iOS 18 or later. Archive speaks English and Turkish.

Is there an Android version?

No. Archive is made for iPhone only.
